Food is an excellent subject matter choice for all skill levels because it is universal and easily recognizable. Plus, it offers a wide range of shapes, textures, and colors to work with and the potential for endless creative expression.
This month, explore ways to incorporate photography into your art! I’ve curated stock photo collections from sites like unsplash.com and pexels.com to use in your artwork, linked to the prompts below. This month’s journal also provides helpful tips and examples about how to approach each week.
In March, we’ll be exploring different ecosystems found in nature such as a tranquil pond, lush jungle, serene seashore, and an enchanting forest. We’ll not only be drawing plant life that grows in these natural places but also the animals, insects, and critters that inhabit them!
We’re kicking off a new month of Making Art Everyday, and our theme for April is Neighborhood. Get ready to draw all types of buildings and houses; from towering cityscapes to charming cottages – and even some unique prompts like Objects as Houses.
This month is all about taking inspiration from literature that’s available to use from the public domain. Let your imagination soar as you use descriptive text from these stories to create your own unique versions of characters and objects featured in our drawing prompts.
For the month of June, let’s imagine ourselves unwinding in serene, far off hideaways and use our art practice as a sanctuary to Escape & Unwind. Each day this month, we’ll draw an animal for every letter of the alphabet! I love alphabet challenges because they offer structure while still leaving plenty of room for creativity. If you accept the challenge, you’ll have 26 animal illustrations by the end of the month, which could even be the basis for your very own ABC book!
Whether you draw the entire alphabet or just your favorite animals from the prompt list, I encourage you to think of your work as part of an art series.
