Week NINETEEN

Pictures help us tell a story. Sharing our stories is a powerful way to connect with others.

I have loved reading what you all are posting along with your toy drawings this past week! It’s so fun to read about what the things you are drawing mean to you, whether you were drawing something from your childhood, or you children’s favorite toys, or sharing a memory from when you were a kid. I think THIS is what makes drawing and illustration such an amazing thing. It gives us the ability to tell a story, to express something in ways beyond what words allow.

What to Do

  • If you’re not already, share a story or a memory along with your drawings this week. Why did you choose to draw that particular thing in that particular way? What does the subject matter mean to you? What emotions or memories did it bring up?

May Prompts

CHILDHOOD

As we continue our month of childhood, this week we’re focusing on games! Some of the prompts are specific, like Monday, Wednesday and Friday’s. If you don’t have these games in your culture, feel free to choose something that is more in line with your own experience. Some of the prompts are more open ended, like board games and video games. You could do so much with these! You could draw a specific game, characters from a game, game pieces or game systems/controllers. My advice is pick something you love, and draw that.

Week 19 | May 6 - 12
