For my theme, I decided to do “things my kids like” and I’ll print it into a book to give them when I finish!
I just got back from the Alt Summit conference for female entrepreneurs in creative fields. Last year was my first year attending, and this year I was honored to get to teach a workshop on Procreate at the conference!
So this morning, I’ve been spending some time reflecting on how much has changed in the past year. The most significant change for Making Art Everyday has been with the community that has now become such an integral part of the project. This time last year, the MAE Facebook group didn’t exist! Now that it’s been around for several months, It’s even more apparent how important it is to have a space for people with a common goal to come together, share, discuss, and build each other up. Surrounding yourself with these kinds of people is SO CRITICAL to your progress (and overall well-being). To that point, one of the reasons I’ll probably keep going back to Alt every year is to spend time with people like me (creative, driven, colorful and vibrant, female artists and entrepreneurs). It affects my whole world in the best possible way.
Alphabet month continues with letters G-M! Continue working on your lettering and/or illustration for each of these letters this week. If you need a refresher on instructions for the MAE Prompts this month, see the blog post of last week’s email.
I found you an amazing resource to help you if you are exploring lettering this month! This tutorial by 99 Designs goes over typography basics, lettering styles, ideas, tips, and so much more. I highly recommend giving it a read! And don’t forget to peruse the ABC Inspiration board on Pinterest for some great ideas.
Just a reminder, if you want to, you can work toward printing all your artwork from this month as your very own ABC book! I’m partnering with Mixbook to get you a 40% discount off your first 6×6 or 8.5×8.5″ custom printed book. I spent time with the Mixbook team at Alt Summit this week and they are really awesome people! More info to come!
If you’d like to work toward the goal of printing your own book, be sure to draw all your artwork this month on a canvas that is at least 3000×3000 pixels, square.
