Week fifty-two

It’s week 52, can you believe it!? While we technically have a few more bonus days of 2020 after this week, it’s incredible to be wrapping up another year of Making Art Everyday.

Whether you’ve been following along all year or are just joining now and planing your drawing goals for the future, you should feel proud of yourself for showing up. Every minute you spend drawing contributes to becoming a better artist, but most importantly, it’s time when you put yourself first. That is HUGE! You matter, you are amazing, and you deserve every joyful moment that comes your way.

I’ve got plenty to share about what Making Art Everyday has to hold in the coming year, but for now, give yourself a hug from me. Each and every one of you that participates in this community means so much to me. I could not do what I do without YOU. If you are celebrating any holidays this week, I hope your days are merry and bright.

Week 52: Holiday Movies & More

I thought it would be fun to do some holiday-related prompts this week! Each day you’ll use a different movie as inspiration for your drawing. Draw something small that makes you think of the film. Some ideas are:

  • The Grinch: Max the dog, Cindy Lou Who, the Grinch’s hand, Dr. Suess-style Christmas tree

  • Home Alone: The McCallister’s home, a tobbogan, Harry and Marv, Little Nero’s pizza box, Fuller’s Pepsi can

  • A Christmas Story: the pink bunny suit, a bb gun, “Oh Fudge”, broken glasses, the Leg Lamp

  • Elf: Buddy’s elf suit, spaghetti with syrup and candy, “Son of a Nutcracker!”, the Empire State building, the narwal

  • A Charlie Brown Christmas: Snoopy, the “Charlie Brown Christmas tree”, a dog house with lights, a snowy scene

If you’ve not seen these movies, or you celebrate a different holiday this time of year, feel free to swap these movies out with other ones that you like. The last two prompts will have you choose a couple of your own movies as well. Happy Holidays!
