Week forty-six

Did you hear the news? Procreate released a new update!

This week, Procreate released version 5.2, which introduced a ton of awesome features such as 3D painting, improvements to the brush menu and settings, loads of accessibility features, and much more! If you want to learn about all the new goodness, let me introduce you to my friend, Brooke Glaser, who made an in-depth tutorial walking you through all the 5.2 features and how to use them. Brooke is a fantastic teacher (one of Skillshare’s top teachers, in fact), and I think you will love learning from her!

Week 46: Sketching from Life pt. 2

How has your first week of sketching been going? I’ve been following along in this challenge, putting my new iPad mini to the test as a digital sketchbook. I’ve been learning a lot about how to represent forms and shading using only pencil brushes. It’s been great not to worry about coloring something or producing a finished drawing. Later this month, I’ll be sharing my best tips about sketching, so stay tuned!

As a reminder, our prompts this month are things you’d find in your everyday life. The challenge is to find that item, and draw it as you see it. I recommend sticking to a simple pencil brush, but do what is most comfortable to you. The last day of each week will give you the opportunity to get a bit more creative by taking your favorite sketch from the week and fully finishing it with color!
