Week forty-one

Don’t you wish you could see into the future sometimes? I’ve been worrying about it so much lately. I fear that things will fall apart or that I don’t have what it takes to keep it all going. I worry that everything I’ve undertaken will be too much and I will drown in overwhelm. Sometimes it would be nice to look into the future and know that everything will work out, to know that I’m on the right track.

You can’t see the future.
But the future can see you.

The beauty of the linear way we experience time is that we can look back at our past selves and know that everything, indeed, worked out. Or maybe it didn’t, but our future selves know that things our past selves would have considered to be failures were really just shifts to something we couldn’t foresee. Our future selves would tell us to stop worrying, it really is all gonna be okay. Maybe we should try looking at our present from the perspective of our future selves. The future sees you. The future loves you and wants you to persist and to trust in yourself. Take on each day like you know it’s all going to work out like future self knows it does.

October's Theme:

myths & magic

Welcome to October! For our Making Art Everyday theme, we’re moving from the natural to the supernatural…October’s theme is Myths & Magic! We’ll have prompts inspired by objects, creatures, and things that are otherworldly, eerie, epic, or mysterious. And, of course, we’ll have some Halloween-inspired prompts toward the end of the month! So let’s venture to the great beyond and back again as we make some magical art over the next few weeks! Here’s a little sneak peek at this month’s weekly themes:

Week 41: Mystical Objects
Week 42: Signs of the Zodiac
Week 43: Mythical Creatures
Week 44: Spooky Stuff

Week 41: Mystical Objects

It’s officially spooky season, I thought it would be fun to get in touch with our inner clairvoyance and explore things that are mystical, magical, and metaphysical.

Let’s get a little moody! In today’s live drawing session, I’ll be drawing a glowing candle. The gentle glow of candlelight can add some serious ambiance to your illustrations. We’ll be using Procreate features such as blend modes, Gaussian blur, alpha lock and clipping masks, and more. I’ll even show you a quick and easy way to add an interesting background that also adds an element of depth.

You can always download the current month’s Progress Tracker at bardotbrush.com/progress
