Week THIRTY-TWO

New Bardot Brush set!

In case you missed the big announcement…I released a BRAND NEW brush set this past week! Introducing Scratch Art Sgraffito brushes for Procreate. Now you can make beautiful, realistic scratch art right in Procreate!

I have found making scratch art in Procreate to be SO SOOTHING. Maybe it’s something about blending the colors together or the limitations of working only with scratch marks, but I find it to be both relaxing and creatively invigorating at the same time!

Live tutorial: Friday, Aug 6 @ 10:30 am PDT

Join me in a live tutorial where I’ll teach you in real-time how to make scratch art in Procreate! You’ll learn about the new brushes, how to use them, and walk you through creating a scratch art piece from, well…scratch! Have your Scratch Art Sgraffito brushes ready, or just come to ask questions and learn more.

August's Theme:

home

I’m so excited for this month because it’s one of my favorite themes!
During August, we’ll be traveling through the rooms of our homes. This month will focus on drawing household objects, accessories, furniture, etc. Of course, you can interpret the prompt however you’d like: draw items from your own home, design something beautiful and dreamy, draw something vintage and nostalgic, a simple object or a background to go with it.

You could even use the different illustrations as building blocks of an entire interior scene! If you are interested in going that route, I’d highly recommend checking out my Scene School series (which, psst…we might be revisiting later this year! 😉 )

P.S. If you’ve been participating in MAE since the early days, this series of prompts is one we did way back in 2019! So it will be a great way to see your progress since then!

Week 32: Bathroom

For Home month, we are kicking things off in the bathroom! These prompts are things you interact with daily but probably don’t give a second thought. Or they may be something you flat out dislike (I’m looking at you, laundry). So challenge yourself: How could you make a toothbrush fun? Or a toilet? Don’t take yourself too seriously with these prompts, and have fun!

The best place to catch the live stream is on the Bardot Brush YouTube Channel. Don’t forget: You can watch or re-watch the previous livestreams on my tutorials page on Bardot Brush!

If you are interested in learning about drawing a complete scene, check out my video on drawing in perspective using Procreate’s perspective drawing guide feature. This video will give you tips about the process of assembling a scene, as well as lots of helpful knowledge about perspective drawing!

If you missed Friday’s live tutorial, it was a good one! I covered a lot of great info, including teaching you how to draw some simple illustrations, using a limited color palette, working with layers, alpha lock, layer masks, blend modes, and creating realistic sticker shadow and paper effects. I even provide a free Procreate color palette for you to use as you follow along. You can watch or re-watch it by clicking the thumbnail above!

This Month's Progress Tracker

You can always download the current month’s Progress Tracker at bardotbrush.com/progress

(its a .Procreate file, so you can keep track of your progress right in Procreate!)

You’ll find instructions about how to use the Tracker at the link above. I even made you a star stamp brush for you to use! It’s my Procreate version of a gold star sticker.
