As a developing artist, finding “your style” is akin to finding the holy grail. For some, it’s the ultimate goal. It’s that special thing that sets you apart from the rest, that thing that makes you a recognizable artist. We work super hard to get there, but we honestly don’t really know what we’re looking for! I’d like for you to think about it this way: your style is what happens when you are NOT trying.

I think “your style” is the look that comes naturally once you’ve mastered your skill. It’s not a look that you have to work hard to achieve, it’s what emerges from you instinctively when you practice creativity. So if you’re still in the learning stage, or even if you’re much further ahead, don’t feel bad if you don’t know what “your style” is yet. Your style will emerge even before YOU realize it does!

Everything you learned this month will is going to be a part of “your style.” Certain techniques will have resonated more with you than others, and I think you’ll find little bits and pieces of these styles infused in the artwork you create going forward!
