It’s the first week of a new year and everyone is excited and full of drive to take on a new challenge. Your level of motivation is probably high right now, so let’s harness that ambition to start forming a new habit.
If I can give you one piece of advice as you begin your daily art-making journey, it’s this: aim for sustainability. You might be excited and want to draw for hours this week, but that level is hard to keep up as a daily practice. So this week, start small and stay consistent.
I’ll also give you a second piece of advice: finish each day with a plan for tomorrow. This one little tip is a HUGE help in sustaining your practice. Opening up a new canvas with some form of a plan helps you start drawing faster.
As you might have read in my last email, MAE 2020 is all about the “plus!” The “plus” is an extra element that helps spark creativity in your art making. You can expect to see the “plus” incorporated into our prompts later this month. For now, let’s keep it simple and focus on establishing your drawing habit.
I thought I’d kick off the year much like we did in 2019 with a MAE theme favorite: FOOD! Some people start off the year with a goal of being more healthy, so why not do the same with our prompts? This week is all about Healthy Foods. Day one is an orange, just like last year! In 2020, you can expect a ton of all-new prompts, with a sprinkle of fan favorites from 2019.
